Founded in 1986 in Berlin as a studio project, Mock Orange gained attention as a live act in the late eighties and early nineties. Following their self-produced debut album "Taste!" (released 1991 on vinyl only), and the live-in-the-studio-effort "Grey 2 Green", the oversized production of "Did You Ever Listen" left the band in tension and financial debt, without any breakthrough achieved.
